
Who are we at Semler Health?
Dr. Semler grew up in Portland, OR and served in the Korean War as a Flight Surgeon. He received his training from the Mayo clinic, was the Chief of Medicine at Fairchild USAD Hospital in Spokane, WA and became the Chief of Cardiology at St. Vincent Hospital in Portland, OR. Dr. Semler was Oregon’s first Board Certified Cardiologist.
In 1978, he and his wife Shirley established the Shirley and Herbert Semler Foundation which has funded the medical education of numerous students at the Mayo Clinic. In 2008, Dr. Semler was named Clinical Professor of Medicine for the Cardiovascular Medicine Division at OHSU and 2011 he was awarded The Distinguished Alumnus Award for achievements reflecting the highest ideals of the OHSU School of Medicine.
With a voracious desire for helping others, Dr. Semler has invented medical instruments for detecting cardiovascular disease and has published many scientific papers. He continues to reside in Portland with his wife, the love of his life, of over 65 years. With the help of his small, close-knit team, he hopes to share his knowledge with the world through Semlerhealthusa.com and the Semler Heart App to help people live long, happy lives.
