Yoga for Heart Health
Yoga is one of the most rewarding physical activities so it’s no surprise it’s also beneficial for your cardiovascular health. If we’re referring back to Dr. Semler’s S.H.O.E.S., it checks off multiple boxes! Yoga is known for its benefits as an exercise, such as increased flexibility, muscle strength and balance, and is connected to a lower Body Mass Index. The mind-body connection that comes from a regular yoga practice in itself can bring a new level of mindfulness that can lead to lower stress levels. Another plus!
With multiple different types of practices ranging from hatha and ashtanga to anusara and (our favorite) vinyasa and multitudes of online options, all you need is a yoga mat and a smartphone to take a step towards a healthy heart. We’ve compiled a list of some of our favorite poses below, as well as links to some other great yoga resources. Namaste!
